Field Theories The folios are purposefully simple.  They are meant to be an elegant solution to the problem of how we carry what we carry everyday.  They were conceived with the understanding that good design should be simple but not pedestrian, durable but not static, and natural but not benign.  Objects should change and age with you, and bear the marks of how you use them. - - -  The folios utilize an architecture similar to that of an envelope.  Their simplicity allows them to be secured without glues or stitches, using instead two carefully placed hand-hammered copper rivets.  They are designed and built in-house in Los Angeles, and are cut, burnished, folded, stamped, riveted, and oiled - one at a time and entirely by hand.  The are made in one standard size - large enough to hold letter/A4 notepads, ipad, pens, papers, etc.  Custom sizing is also available.  Check the shop for special editions in various sizes and leathers, or inquire directly. - - -  Each one is made from a single continuous piece of latigo leather, which is durable, sturdy, and supple.  Each folio will soften over time and gain its own unique, rich patina.  Periodic treatment with a conditioner, such as Obenauf’s or Huberd’s, will help it last a lifetime. contact:  fieldtheories@gmail.com
